Tan Jing, a soprano singer and first-class actor, graduated from the China Conservatory of Music and the People's Liberation Army Academy of Art successively. She is a pioneer in China's contemporary music scene, creating a cross-border singing style that integrates national singing, pop singing, and bel canto.

In 1998, she was admitted to the Song and Dance Troupe of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, becoming a soloist. In 2000, she participated in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala for the first time, attracting audience attention; in the same year, she became well-known to the public for winning the Gold Award in the Pop Singing Category of the Professional Group at the 9th National Youth Singing Competition. In 2002, she gave her first solo performance at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, singing her signature song On That Eastern Hilltop, and she has appeared on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala stage a total of twelve times over the years.

In 2006, she became China's first recipient of a master's degree in pop singing; the same year was also known as the "Year of Tan Jing" in China's music circles. In 2010, as an outstanding representative of the literary and art circles, she participated in the recording of China National Image Film·People Chapter. In 2016, she joined the music mystery guessing reality show Masked Singer Guess Guess and revealed her identity at the Golden Melody Gala. In 2019, she was invited as a representative of Chinese artists to conduct cultural exchanges in Italy. In 2024, she held several "Songs Like a Youth" concerts.

Her singing has creatively integrated national music, pop music, and stage plays. Her starring works such as The Ballad of Mulan, The White-Haired Girl, Bird's Nest·Attraction, and Princess Wencheng have made explorations for the development of Chinese national operas and local musicals. In addition, Tan Jing has persisted in singing the voice of harmony and spreading Chinese civilization. She has been invited to hold concerts at the Vienna Golden Hall, London's Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, and other venues, and her singing has also become a symbol at major national events such as the Beijing Olympic Games, Shanghai World Expo, and Guangzhou Asian Games.
