Following the record-breaking opening weekend for “A Minecraft Movie,” a new slate of blockbusters and indie films are hoping to drum up excitement in April about what 2025 has to offer in the cinema landscape.
Starting with the weekend’s wide releases, Alex Garland has teamed up with veteran Ray Mendoza on “Warfare,” a tense war drama based on the real memories of a group of Navy SEALs during the Iraq War. The cast includes Kit Connor, Charles Melton, Noah Centineo, Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn and Cosmo Jarvis.
Blumhouse is hoping to bring the thrills with “Drop,” helmed by “Happy Death Day” director Christopher Landon. Meghann Fahy stars as a widowed mother who takes a chance on dating again only to start receiving phone messages that threaten her son’s life. Additionally, “Bohemian Rhapsody” star Rami Malek is leading the action thriller “The Amateur” as a CIA decoder who seeks revenge and answers after his wife’s death.
