The IIFSA International AI Short Film Competition was a resounding success

On April 19, 2026, the IIFSA International AI Short Film Competition, initiated by the International institute of Film Science and Art (Institute) and co-hosted by Bigao Group, was held in Beijing. Themed "AI and Imaging Coexist, Art and Technology Walk Together", the competition focused on human-machine collaborative creation and film aesthetic innovation, showcasing multiple cutting-edge AI short films. The event was attended by a large number of guests, creating a strong academic atmosphere.

The event featured a specially designed keynote speech session. Professor Liang Yanli, with the topic of "The Poetic Space of AI Short Films," explored the creative boundaries and spiritual expression of AI imagery from the dimensions of artistic aesthetics and humanistic poetry. Professor Zhou Anhua delved into the discussion around "The Current Challenges and Solutions in AI Short Film Creation," providing an in-depth analysis of the industry's current situation, creative dilemmas, and future breakthrough paths, offering important academic reflections and practical guidance for the development of AI films. Numerous creators and imaging teams, with their outstanding creative achievements, garnered honors, injecting new momentum into AI film creation and academic research in film and television.

The judging panel of the IIFSA International AI Short Film Festival is composed of globally renowned film school professors and industry representatives, covering multiple fields such as film theory, technology, education, and creation, ensuring the professionalism and fairness of the selection process. The chairman of the judging panel is Karl Bardosh, a professor at the Tisch School of the New York University and a Tony Award winner. The panel brings together numerous academic and industry authorities such as Tan Fei, Zhou Anhua, Liang Yanli, and Vikrant Kishore, who rigorously oversee the judging process throughout the competition.

The awards of this competition cover multiple dimensions such as AI image creation, human-machine collaboration practice, artistic expression, academic research, and industry innovation. The main categories include Best AI Short Film, Best AI Short Film Director, Best AI Editing and Post-Production, AI and Humanistic Spirit Award, Best AI Screenplay, and Best AI Narrative Innovation Award, collectively showcasing the cutting-edge achievements and innovative explorations in film art in the AI era. The creative awards recognize creators and teams who excel in image expression and artistic breakthroughs, highlighting the important value of human-machine collaboration in empowering the development of image art.
