The International Institute of Film Science and Art (IIFSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Krirk University in Thailand to jointly establish the IIFSA Film Culture Research Center.

The International Institute of Film Science and Art (IIFSA) and Krirk University in Thailand recently officially signed a *Memorandum of Academic Cooperation*, announcing the joint establishment of the IIFSA Film Culture Research Center. This strategic collaboration will integrate the strengths of both parties in film and television technology research, talent cultivation, and international resource coordination, focusing on in-depth cooperation in cutting-edge technological fields such as digital film and television production, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven creation, virtual production, and immersive film and television experiences. The goal is to build an international platform that integrates academic research, technological development, and industrial application.   According to the memorandum, the two sides will jointly establish an industry-academia-research integration platform to drive film and television technological innovation through joint research projects, with a focus on emerging fields such as AI-driven film and television creation, virtual production, and extended reality (XR) technology. In terms of talent cultivation, joint undergraduate, master's, and doctoral training programs will be established, along with academic exchanges, short-term training, and industry practice activities, to cultivate interdisciplinary talent with both scientific and technological literacy and artistic creativity. Meanwhile, the research center will actively promote the transformation of scientific research achievements, collaborate with global film and television enterprises, and facilitate the deep integration of technological innovation and market application.   A representative of IIFSA stated, "This cooperation will fully leverage IIFSA's international resources and research strengths in the field of film and television technology, jointly exploring the future development direction of film and television technology with Krirk University." A representative of Krirk University emphasized, "We are delighted to join hands with IIFSA to promote academic research and practical application of film and television technology by relying on Thailand's regional advantages and educational resources."   This cooperation marks a substantive step forward in collaborative innovation between the two parties in the field of film and television technology. In the future, the IIFSA Film Culture Research Center will become a key hub for global film and television technological innovation, providing technical support and talent assurance for the sustainable development of the industry.   Background on Krirk University:  Established in 1952 by the renowned educator Dr. Krirk Mangalabruks, Krirk University is a comprehensive higher education institution recognized under the China-Thailand Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Academic Degrees. Rooted in Thailand and radiating across China-ASEAN, it holds the authority to grant bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, focusing on scientific research and cultivating applied senior talent. As the headquarters for research and study programs of hundreds of Chinese schools in Thailand, Krirk University has nurtured a large number of outstanding graduates for the ASEAN region. Many ministerial-level leaders in the current Thai cabinet are alumni of the university. In March 2019, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen was awarded an honorary doctorate in political science by Krirk University. In 2021, the university was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Asia Awards.
